The most important step before applying for an examination is to check its eligibility criteria. Below are the eligibility criteria for UGC NET in detail. The candidates must go through the educational, age, and nationality qualifications before applying for the exam.
UGC NET 2022 Eligibility: Nationality
The UGC NET Exam is conducted only for Indian nationals. The aim is to select the best candidates for posts of Assistant professors and Junior Research Fellowships or JRFS among Indian nationals for various Indian universities, colleges, and institutes.
UGC NET Age Limits and Relaxation
Applying candidates must follow the age criteria of UGC NET 2022 as declared by the official notification. The age criteria are given below:
- There is no maximum age limit for the post of Assistant Professor.
- Candidates applying for a Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) must not be more than 31 years.
- There is no particular age limit for Lecturer-ship.
- Age relaxation is provided to the reserved category candidates as per the Government of India norms to apply for UGC NET JRF:

UGC NET Educational Qualifications
The educational qualification is the most important criterion of eligibility. Given below are the details of the eligibility criteria instructed by UGC NET:
- Qualification: Applying candidates must have a Master’s degree in a relevant field from a recognized board or university.
- Appearing Candidates: Those candidates appearing in their final examinations, completing their post graduation or awaiting results can also apply for the exam.
- Marks: A minimum of 55% aggregate marks should be scored by General candidates, Relaxation of 5% is allowed for reserved candidates (SC/ ST/ OBC/ PWD/ Transgender, and others)
Application Form
UGC NET Application Form 2022
The UGC NET Application Form will be released through online mode. Filling up of application forms is expected to commence from March 2022. The last date of submission is tentatively the last week of April 2022.
Candidates have to fill in the details in the same way as filling in their 10th mark sheet.

- Click on Apply online to register.
- Enter the personal details, valid email ID, and mobile number.
- On successful registration, an application number will be sent on the registered email ID and mobile number.
- Login again and select the preferred subject, position, and preferred exam centre.
- Upload the scanned copies of the photograph and signature in the specified format.
- Pay the application fee using online payment methods such as Debit Card/ Credit Card/ Net Banking.
- Submit the application fees.
- Take a printout of the application form and fee receipt for future references.

Application Correction
UGC NET Application Correction 2022
NTA provides the correction facility to every registered candidate individually. The correction window shall open on the official website. Candidates will be able to rectify any mistake that might have occurred during filling up application forms. A specific period of correction facility shall be given. Candidates cannot correct after the last date of the correction facility is over.
Note:
- No candidates shall be allowed to submit the application form after the last date.
- It is advised that candidates keep a printed copy of the filled application form and the payment receipt for future references.
- Any alteration or discrepancy may cause rejection of the application form.
