Srinagar, Nov 11: Anjuman Auqaf Jama Masjid Srinagar on Friday expressed resentment against the continuous house detention of Mirwaiz-e-Kashmir, Dr. Moulvi Muhammad Omar Farooq and said, “Barring Mirwaiz from discharging his religious duties is extremely condemnable”.
The Anjuman in a statement demanded that restrictions on Mirwaiz-e-Kashmir should be removed and he should be allowed to resume his activities so that he can fulfill the duty of guiding the Kashmiri people and reforming the society like his predecessors – the Mirwaizeen – had been doing for centuries.
The Anjuman said that voices are being raised at all levels for the release of Mirwaiz, but the authorities are unmoved.
For the past more than 3 years now the mimbar-o-mihrab of Jama Masjid Srinagar is being rendered silent and the faithful who come from nook and corner of the valley return disappointed due to the absence of Mirwaiz-e-Kashmir, which is extremely painful for them, the statement said.(KNS)
