Main parts of an instrument, analog and digital display, need of sensors, Resistive sensors, Light Dependent Resistor (LDR), Temperate Dependent Resistor (TDR), photovoltaic cell, Photodiode, thermostat Optical instruments, Microscopes and astronomical telescopes and their magnifying powers.
Need of voltage regulation in an instrument, multimeter and its uses, alternating currents and direct currents, Zener diode as a voltage regulator, Relays, Semiconductor diode, V-I characteristics in forward and reverse bias, diode as a rectifier, LED, Potential difference and emf of a cell, internal resistance of a cell, capacitance of a parallel plate capacitor with and without dielectric medium between the plates, Kirchhoff’s laws and simple applications, transistor action, transistor as an amplifier (common emitter configuration), basic idea of analog and digital signals, Logic gates (OR, AND, NOT, NAND and NOR), Basic ideas about internet, mobile telephony and global positioning system (GPS).
