Shri Chandraker Bharti IAS appointed as Principal Secretary to J&K Home Department

The Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, has appointed Shri Chandraker Bharti, IAS (AGMUT:1996), as the Principal Secretary to the Government, Home Department, with immediate effect. The decision comes via Government Order No: 768-JK(GAD) of 2024, dated March 4, 2024, issued by the Lieutenant Governor.

Shri Chandraker Bharti, an engineering graduate from Delhi College of Engineering, brings a wealth of experience to his new role. Having joined the Indian Administrative Services in September 1996, he holds an M.Sc. degree in Public Management & Policy from the esteemed London School of Economics & Political Science, UK.

Bharti’s career spans over 24 years in Civil Services, during which he has held various pivotal positions. His previous assignments include serving as Additional Commissioner in the Department of Sales Tax, Government of NCT of Delhi, and as Director in the Ministry of Commerce & Industry. He has also served as Development Commissioner across diverse Government Departments such as Agriculture, Finance & Planning, Industries & Commerce, and Information Technology in the Union Territory of Pondicherry. Additionally, he has briefly contributed to the Health & Family Welfare and Environment & Forest Departments of the Government of NCT of Delhi.

The appointment of Shri Chandraker Bharti, known for his extensive experience and expertise, underscores the government’s commitment to ensuring efficient administration and governance in crucial departments.
