The registration process for the same will begin on June 8 which means the JEE Main results will be announced before the same. Thus, it is very likely that for JEE Main only two attempts – March and May – will be held. The National Testing Agency (NTA) has launched a new website for JEE Mains, however, the official exam dates are not out yet. Those who obtain the top 2.5 lakh rank in JEE Main will be eligible to take JEE Advanced.

Considering the prevailing pandemic situation due to COVID-19 in India and abroad, it has been decided not to conduct the JEE Advanced 2022 in any foreign centres/countries. The National Testing Agency (NTA) has decided to hold the JEE mains exam in May this year. Students from all the states demanding amendment in JEE mains exam’s rules mandating minimum of 75% marks in Inter 2nd year written exam.
Due to the covid-19 crisis, the exam rules were made easy. And after the normalcy returning the NTA is considering applying the old rules which are being opposed by the students.
For the past two years, students were promoted without a written exam. In Telangana state, SSC students were promoted after canceling the exams. Similarly, the first year inter students were promoted for the second year but later on, the exam was held. But after the student’s protest, all were promoted with minimum marks.
This year, students will only get two chances and not four to appear for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2022 as the National Testing Agency (NTA) has decided to conduct exams in the months of April and May only.
Last year, the Agency conducted four sessions of JEE Main exam and the ministry of education had decided to increase the number of attempts to four from 2021 onwards.
An official told TOI that the reason for conducting four sessions of JEE Main last year was COVID-19. “Situation was different due to the second wave. However, things have improved and based on the current situation it has been decided that two attempts would be as beneficial. The registration will start by the end of this month,” the official was quoted as saying.
Moreover, another reason cited by the sources of TOI is delay in exams such as Class 12 board exams which has led to less time for entrance exams if admissions are to be commenced on time this year.
The JEE Mains 2022 exam date and registration process will be announced at NTA JEE Main 2022 official website – jeemain.nta.nic.in. Candidates will also be able to check JEE Main 2022 exam date and other details at NTA website – nta.ac.in.
JEE Main 2022 Exam dates are expected to be announced soon by NTA on nta.ac.in.
The examination would be conducted across 4 sessions – most likely in April, May and June.
JEE Advanced 2022 dates would be announced after JEE Main 2022 dates are conduced.
Joint Entrance Examination, JEE Main 2022 exam dates are expected to be announced soon. National Testing Agency, NTA is likely to conduct the examination across 4 sessions – like in 2021. As for when the exam would be conducted, NTA is yet to announce the JEE Main 2021 dates. However, based on the board examination dates for CBSE and various state boards, tentatively JEE Main 2022 might begin around April 10.
Sources close to NTA have shared that the final dates are likely to be announced soon. The delay, as per a few, was largely due to the delay in announcement of Board Exams 2022 dates. Many state boards have now announced the dates. The first session is likely in April first or second week followed by second, third and fourth sessions in May and June accordingly.
JEE Main 2022 Dates: April Session from April 10 to April 14
While CBSE Class 12 Board Exams 2022 would begin from April 26, there are many other state boards which must be considered before finalization of JEE Main 2022 examination. Though other states have their individual entrance examinations for engineering admissions, JEE Main 2022 is necessary for qualifying for the JEE Advanced – the entrance examination for Indian Institutes of Technology or IITs. Accordingly, all students must be considered.
So far, most of the Class 12 board exams would either begin after April 15 or end by April 10 or April 11, leaving a small window open.
“Academic sessions have to be restored to pre-covid levels and accordingly the exams must be conducted. JEE Advanced 2022 may be delayed till about July or latest to early August but not beyond. Accordingly, NTA might consider conducting JEE Mains by July. With that calculation, the first session must be conducted in April,” shared Mr. Agarwal, who teaches at a renowned coaching centre.
Other experts too feel that it is expected to be around the same time. “CBSE deciding to begin the exams from April 26 is a big hint that the time might have been left for JEE Main examination. There is no certainty of course but yes it’s an estimates guess. Also, Maharashtra board exams end on March 30, Telangana Inter on April 8 while Karnataka begin on April 16. There is a small window that might be considered,” shared Mr. Ahmed, who teaches Physics.
