Will NTA Postpone JEE Main 2022 due to Board Exam Dates?

Will NTA Postpone JEE Main 2022 due to Board Exam Dates? 2

JEE Main and Board Exam 2022 Updates: Going as per the media reports, students have been constantly raising concerns over the exam dates of JEE Main 2022 ever since the schedule was announced by the NTA. JEE Mains 2022 and its clash with the board exam has been taken to Twitter now. Many students have been complaining that less time gap between dates of JEE and board exams is impacting their preparation for both exams and would eventually affect their performance.

Now, students are demanding the NTA postpone JEE Mains, till at least all major board exams are over. For a fair decision, students have been demanding Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan intervene.

Revised JEE Mains Date 2022

Earlier, in a revised schedule, the National Testing Agency (NTA) had announced the JEE Main 2022 will be conducted on 21st, 24th, 25th, 29th April and 1st, 4th May 2022. Board exams are also slated to be conducted around the same time – the CBSE Class 12 Term 2 exams 2022 will begin on 26th April 2022.

The NTA had received a representation from several student groups and stakeholders, seeking changes in the JEE Mains exam dates. The representation was submitted to avoid a direct clash with the board exams. The NTA then decided to postpone the JEE Main 2022 by a week.

Postpone JEE Mains 2022 Demand By Students

Although there is no direct clash between the dates for JEE Mains 2022 and board exams, students believe writing the JEE Mains in between the board exams may lead to poor performance in both. Hence, taking to Twitter, students have been constantly requesting the concerned authorities like National Testing Agency, NTA and even Education Minister to intervene and #PostponeJEEMains2022. Along with this, many students have also been using #JEEAfterBoards, in an attempt to get their requests noticed and voices heard.

Postpone JEE Mains 2022 – Key Concerns from the Students

Last year, the JEE Mains was held in four sessions. However, this year, the exam will be held in two sessions only. Therefore, conducting the JEE Mains in the middle of board exams might lead to poor performance in both exams. Some other major concerns of students are –

  • In JEE Mains, there has always been a gap of at least 86 days between the first and last session. However, this year it has been reduced to mere 19 days.
  • The centres for board exams and JEE Mains may be in different cities, which would make it impossible for students to travel and come back for further board exams.
  • A section of students have been considering dropout due to the sudden changes, which would affect their careers immensely.

Considering these points, students are now requesting the NTA and the education minister to restore four attempts for JEE Mains. In case four attempts is not an option, the two attempts should be given after the completion of all major board exams. Apart from that, there should be a gap of a minimum of 35 days between the two sessions, to allow students from all boards to look into their ranks and percentile.

UPSC, JEE Main, NEET, NDA or CDS! Which is The Toughest Exam of India?

UPSC, JEE Main, NEET, NDA or CDS! Which is The Toughest Exam of India? 6

In India, various competitive exams like UPSC Civil Services, National Defence Services (NDA), UPSC CDS, NEET, JEE etc are conducted every year at various levels of the student’s life. While NEET and JEE are conducted after school level, NDA, IBPS, SSC, UPSC CSE etc are conducted for providing jobs in various Government sectors. In all these UPSC Civil Services Exam is considered the toughest of all. Know the reason why and what makes UPSC so different and tougher from other exams.

Although exams like JEE and NEET are considered at a higher level than the normal student of class 12th can attempt but they still cannot be considered the toughest due to a limited syllabus and the kind of consequences of the exam- Getting admission in a college to become a doctor or an engineer. However, UPSC Exam has a different angle altogether. These land you into administrative services in an Indian city/ town or geographical location.

Many people consider the IAS exam the toughest exam. This is because there is a very low passing rate. The exam requires an extreme level of preparation and struggle. Take a look below at the reasons for UPSC CSE being considered the toughest exam in India.

  • Long Overhauling Syllabus: UPSC Civil Services Exam has the longest syllabus of all the exams. The Prelims overall covers everything from Current Affairs to Art and Culture, History, Geography, Science, Maths, English etc. The candidates who appear for the exam must be all prepared with these subjects to attempt it. The length of the syllabus is extremely overwhelming.
  • Number of Attempts: Any exam is made tougher by making it unachievable after a certain age. The same is the case with UPSC. General category students have just 6 attempts for the exam before they become 32 years of age. The other categories have 2-4 extra attempts and years for the same. However, seeing the syllabus and the candidates appearing for the exam, one cannot say these attempts are enough.
  • Candidates vs Posts: This is a very small ratio in the case of UPSC Exams. Lakhs of candidates appear for less than 1000 posts across the country out of which the top 200 only get the Grade A service posts. The candidates are many and out of those, the competition is also heavy. However, the posts are so less that people find it difficult to achieve.
  • Number of Exams: There is a total of 3 exams that one has to pass to become an IAS officer in India. The first one is UPSC CSE Prelims- after passing of which one gets to appear for UPSC CSE Mains and after clearing that the candidate gets to appear for UPSC CSE Personality Test or Interview. All three exams have equal difficulty levels and are attempted by very qualified aspirants.
  • Uncertainty: Not a single person can say wholeheartedly that he/she would clear UPSC Exam in one year. It is just not possible. Consistency is the key to UPSC. While many qualified and deserving candidates are left behind, those who have been consistent are the ones who qualify in one attempt. People flunk their papers in the successive exams even after passing Prelims with flying colours. Moreover, failing even one of the exams, one has to re-prepare for the next year. There is no middle ground.

Aspirants who wish to appear for UPSC CSE sometimes fail as no proper resources are available to them. However, it has been seen in recent years that people have developed a great interest in these services and prepare from their childhood for the same. The example of the Dabi sisters is supportive enough for this condition.

So one may say that UPSC CSE is the toughest exam in the country, but what comes next is even tougher. Thus to prepare the candidates for such rigorous services, one has to go through a thin filter/ mesh which is called UPSC Civil Services Exam.

Students demand Postponement of JEE Main 2022 Exam

Students demand Postponement of JEE Main 2022 Exam 7

The JEE Main 2022 first session will be held in April and the second one in May. With such short notice along with offline board exams, engineering entrance aspirants have been demanding postponement of the exams. Some students have also demanded four attempts for the national level entrance test, while others demand more time between boards and the entrance exam. Many others are not on board with the last-minute change to introduce negative marking for section B.

Here is a list of key demands from students aspiring to crack the engineering entrance exam. Those who clear JEE will be eligible to seek admission in engineering and architecture (for paper 2) courses. Top 2.5 lakh students are also eligible to appear for IIT entrance exam – JEE Advanced. Every year, about 15 lakh students take the entrance exam.

LITTLE GAP BETWEEN BOARDS AND JEE MAIN

While JEE Main session 1 will be held from April 16 to 21, session 2 will be from May 24 to 29. Besides, the CBSE board exams will begin on April 26. Most state boards too have scheduled their 10th and 12th exams during this time. Several JEE Main aspirants took to social media platforms to demand the postponement of the exams asking NTA to conduct the first session in May as one exam after another will leave them with little or no time for preparations.

JEE Main 2022 Alert: No correction window this time after registrations close

JEE Main 2022 Alert: No correction window this time after registrations close 8

Joint Entrance Examination, JEE Main 2022 registrations are underway. National Testing Agency, NTA released the notification on March 1, 2022. Candidates may please note that this year a few changes have been made in the application process as well as the examination pattern. For starters, there is no correction window this time after registration closes on March 31, 2022. The changes this year are quickly summarized below for quick reference.

JEE Main 2022: Registration, Exam Pattern and other changes

  • To begin with, NTA has reverted to its model of 2 sessions for JEE Main 2022 this year – the four sessions, it clarified, was only a one time measure adapted by NTA due to the second wave of COVID.
  • This year, NTA has done away with the correction window system. Earlier, students were given time after the applications were closed to make any corrections in their applications, if any. From this year, however, there is no correction window. Students are hence advised to very carefully fill the application form.
  • Application form for only April Session to be filled between March 1 and March 31 – for May Session, the application window would be reopened on April 8 and students would have time to apply for May session till May 3. Accordingly, students must ensure that they apply only for April session and then fill another application for May session in April when the window opens – if they wish to appear for both the sessions.
  • Apart from this, the examination pattern has also been revised this year. Unlike previous years, the Section B of Paper II – B.Tech examination, would also have negative marking. A notice to this regard was again released on March 3 by NTA on jeemain.nta.nic.in. The correction was made in the information bulletin, basis which students must now remember that the Section B – which is the numerical section, would also have negative marking now. The students are required to enter the integer value in the space provided – wrong answer would have a negative 1 mark penalty – like in the MCQ or Section A.

The syllabus, eligibility and process has not changed for JEE Main 2022. Students still have the option of appearing for either one or both the examination. JEE Main 2022 Session 1 would be conducted from April 16 to April 21 while Session 2 would be conducted from May 24 to May 29, 2022. The results for April session is likely in first week of May while for May Session and ranks, JEE Main 2022 result is expected by mid-June. JEE Advanced 2022 registration is expected to begin soon after for the July 3, 2022 examination.
