Government changes School timings for Jammu division
Director School Education orders change in school timings in Jammu Division from 1st of October.
The Directorate of School Education, Jammu (DSEJ) on Friday ordered change in school timing falling in Summer Zone of Jammu division. According to an order, the schools shall observe timing as 9:00 AM to 3:00 P.M within Municipal Limits and 10:00 A.M to 4:00 P.M in Rural areas w.e.f 01-10-2022.
Vaishno Devi Shrine Board distributes free souvenir to devotees on eve of Navratra
To honor the female in all forms and envisioning Navratri as a symbol for women empowerment, the female devotees who visited the Holy Shrine of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Ji during these auspicious Navratra were distributed free souvenir items at a selfie point on Tarakote Marg leading to Holy Shrine by Anshul Garg, Chief Executive Officer, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board as a token of honour and gratitude. These souvenir items included sarees, suit pieces, chunni & Dupatta.
Chief Executive Officer informed that on this festive occasion, this is enlisting another initiative by the Shrine Board for promoting yatra influx after providing free pony and battery car services to ‘Divyang’ devotees with special arrangements for their priority darshans at sanctum sanctorum by setting up of help desks for their convenience and hassle-free yatra at various locations as per the directions of Chairman.
CEO also informed that for the first time, Shrine Board has unveiled special selfie points enroute the Holy Shrine for the pilgrims to capture memories of their visit during Navratra. He further contended that besides these initiatives, Shrine Board is striving hard for ensuring physical and systematic improvements wherever required after critical examination like augmentation of infrastructure, decongestion of the entire track, appropriate use of technology for effective crowd and queue management and expeditious completion of all the development works for further augmentation of the facilities for the visiting pilgrims.
Among those present on the occasion were Navneet Singh, Addl. CEO; Ajay Salaan, Asstt CEO and other officers of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board, besides pilgrims in large numbers.
Twin Bomb blasts trigger panic in Udhampur, Jammu & Kashmir
Jammu: Two back to back bomb blasts within a span of eight hours created panic in Jammu and Kashmir’s Udhampur with police saying possibility of use of sticky bomb can’t be ruled out.
The official siad that first blast took place 10:30 pm on Wednesday in a Basantghar bound bus that was parked near petrol station Domail area of Udhampur town. Second blast occurred in a parked bus at General Bus Stand Udhampur at 6 am on Thursday.
Police said that two persons have received minor injuries and are stable. Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Jammu Mukesh Singh, while speaking to reporters at the spot said that two back to back blast occurred in Udhampur with the radius of two kilometres. “Preliminary investigations suggest that these were IED blasts,” he said. Asked whether there was a possibility of use of sticky bombs in the explosions, the ADGP Singh said that police can’t rule out the use of sticky bombs in the twin explosions.
“We are exploring and working on some old leads. Army teams, BDS and teams from other agencies have reached the sites of explosions,” he said. Meanwhile, official sources said that NIA experts have also reached Udhampur explosion sites and samples have been taken for investigations. “It is likely that the NIA may take over the probe,” he said.
Vaishno Devi shrine Board will organise 14 different activities in Katra from Sep 26 to Oct 4
Jammu: Nestled atop Trikuta hills in Jammu and Kashmir’s Reasi district, the Mata Vaishno Devi shrine is all decked up to welcome pilgrims arriving for the nine-day Navratri festival commencing from Monday, officials said.
Over three lakh pilgrims from across the country and abroad are expected to visit the shrine during the festival with the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB) putting in place all necessary arrangements including security to meet the heavy rush, the officials said.
Jammu and Kashmir Lt Governor Manoj Sinha, who is also the chairman of the shrine board, on August 31 rolled out a Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) system for the pilgrims.
The RFID system is part of various new projects sanctioned for the convenience of the pilgrims in the aftermath of a stampede at the shrine on New Year’s Day in which 12 people lost their lives and 16 others were injured.
We have set up two control rooms and installed 120 CCTV cameras along the track and the Bhawan (sanctum sanctorum) to ensure the Yatra is regulated in a better way…The RFID card system, which is mandatory for all pilgrims, will help in better crowd management and real time tracking of pilgrims, Chief Executive Officer, SMVDSB, Anshul Garg said.
He said the shrine and adjoining areas have been decorated with flowers and lights for the festival.
Welcome gates have also been installed and this time the shrine board is introducing selfie points enroute the cave shrine for the pilgrims, he said.
Garg said physically challenged devotees will be provided horses and battery car service free of cost to make it easy for them to offer prayers at the shrine.
This is another new initiative of the shrine board and we have set up help desks for the convenience of persons with special needs. They will also be given priority for darshan’ at the Bhawan, he said.
Katra, 42 km from winter capital Jammu, which serves as the base camp for the shrine, will witness a series of religious, cultural, sports and folk events till the culmination of the festival on October 4.
The tourism department in collaboration with SMVDSB and divisional administration is organising various events like the All India Devotional Song competition, wrestling competition, Ramleela, ‘shobha yatra’, ‘Bhagwati Katha’, ‘Mata Ki Bhaint’, ‘Mata ki Kahani’ play and ‘Kavi Sammelan’.
A total of 14 different activities will be organized in Katra from September 26 to October 4, Garg added.
Div Com Jammu visits different city areas for Navratri arrangements
Divisional Commissioner, Jammu Ramesh Kumar on Sunday conducted an extensive tour of Jammu city and inspected the sanitation services and condition of roads in different parts of the winter capital.
The Div. Com was accompanied by Deputy Commissioner Jammu, Avny Lavasa; Commissioner JMC, Rahul Yadav; SSP Traffic Kaushal Sharma; Superintendent Engineer PWD and other concerned officers.
The Div. Com started his tour from Bahu Fort and visited Kachhi Chawni, Raghunath Bazar, Satwari- Airport Road, Ambphalla, canal road and other adjoining areas.
At Bahu Fort, the Div Com inspected the arrangements for Navratri festival and progress of ongoing beautification works of the Bahu Fort Complex.
The DC Jammu briefed the Div Com about the arrangements being put in place by the district administration Jammu for smooth conduct of Navratri Festival. It was informed that all the arrangements were in place.
The Div. Com instructed the concerned officers to ensure proper sanitation in the adjoining areas, besides regular lifting of garbage.
While inspecting the works taken up under the beautification project, the concerned officers briefed the Div. Com about the works completed so far and ongoing works.
The Div. Com also inspected the parking space and asked SSP Traffic to formulate a traffic management plan for Navratri Days. (JKNewsLine)

Chief Engineer (Distribution) JPDCL, Jammu has informed that the power supply Yatri Niwas, Bhawani Nagar, Gole Gujral, Talab Tillo, Trilokpur, Panjpeer, NITCO Lane, Vikas Nagar, Gho Manhasa, Marh, Gajansoo and adjoining areas shall remain affected on September 25 from 7 am to 12 noon.
Similarly, the power supply to Pouni, Ransoo, Arnas, Dharmari, Bagga and adjoining areas shall remain affected on September 25 from 9 am to 4 pm.
Likewise, the power supply to Akalpur, Udheywala, Sangrampur, Lale-De-Bagh, Nagbani, DPS School Manorma Vihar, Udheywala, Anand Nagar, Domana, Lower Machlian, Nagbani, Kherian, Haipurjagir, Saroda, Puran de Kothi, Trilokpur, Sari Rakwlan, Pouni Chak and adjoining areas shall remain affected on September 25 from 8 am to 2 pm.
Similarly, the power supply to Lamberi, Bagnoti, Narian, Chwki-Jangher, Qila, Darhal, Lam, laroka, Dabbar, Dharat, Gagrote, Nowshera town and adjoining areas shall remain affected on September 25 from 10 am to 4 pm.
Likewise, the power supply to Jakheni, Pathi, Devik and adjoining areas shall remain affected on September 25 from 10 am to 5 pm.
Similarly, the power supply to Pargwal, Channi Tanna, Rajpura, Bhalwal Bharat, Dhalwal Miulu Hamipurkona, BSF and adjoining areas shall remain affected on September 25 from 9 am to 2 pm.
Likewise, the power supply to Gandhi Nagar, Nanak Nagar, Railhead Complex, Jammu University, DC Office, Boria PHE, Sunjwan, Narwal, Bathindi, Channi Himmat, Transport Nagar, Jhajjarkotli, Janipur, New Secretariat, Subash Nagar, Muthi, Rajinder Nagar, Roop Nagar, Sheetli (PHE) and the areas being fed from Grid Stations- Sidhra, BB-I & BB-II shall remain affected on September 25 from 8 am to 1 pm.
Jammu ADGP Promotes 399 constables as Selection Grade Constables
On the eve of Navratri festival, ADGP Jammu Zone Sh. Mukesh Singh, IPS today issued promotion order in respect of 399 constables promoting them to the rank of selection grade constables in the pay scale of level-4 (25500-81100), 02 Sg. Cts as HCs and in-situ promotion to 01Constable.
This is the 11th DPC under the chairmanship of Zonal ADGP Jammu, wherein 5107 officials in different ranks have already been promoted.
ADGP Jammu Zone while congratulating all the promoted officials and their families on the said career progression expressed hope that they in future shall work with more enthusiasm and professionalism to make the department and society feel proud.
Baldev Singh Billowria likely to be the new Mayor of Jammu Municipal Corporation
Resign by Jammu Municipal Corporation Mayor Chander Mohan Gupta and Deputy Mayor Purnima Sharma came as a surprise for many in the city.
While the party members claim that both Mayor and Deputy Mayor of Jammu want to serve BJP due to which they have resigned, sources claim that there is more to it.
There have been reports of Mayor and Deputy Mayor not agreeing to some of the policies of the MC especially under the Smart City project. However there is no confirmation to it by any quarter.
Many are questioning as to who will be the new Jammu Mayor. While the name of Baldev Singh Billowria is on top as the new Mayor of JMC, questions are being risen as to why two senior leaders will resign without assigning a strong reason.
Jammu Mayor and Deputy Mayor, Chander Mohan Gupta and Purnima Sharma resign
Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) mayor Chander Mohan Gupta and his deputy Purnima Sharma on Saturday submitted their resignations after a meeting chaired by Jammu and Kashmir BJP president Ravinder Raina here.
Both Gupta and Sharma resigned voluntarily and expressed their desire to work for strengthening the organisation (BJP), Raina told reporters after the joint meeting of the party corporators and leaders.
He said the meeting lauded the role of Gupta and Sharma during the past four years, especially in implementation of projects under the Jammu Smart City.
