GDS Job Profiles

The GDS positions encompass various job profiles:

1. Branch Postmaster (BPM): Responsible for day-to-day postal operations of Branch Post Office (B.O) and India Post Payments Bank (IPPB).
2. Assistant Branch Postmaster (ABPM): In charge of tasks such as sale of stamps/stationery, mail delivery at doorstep, and transactions of IPPB.
3. Dak Sevak: Engaged in Departmental offices like Sub Post offices, Head Post offices, and more.

India Post GDS Eligibility Criteria

• Minimum Secondary School Examination Pass: A 10th Class (Matriculation) Pass is required, with Mathematics and English as compulsory or elective subjects.
• Knowledge of Local Language: Applicants should have studied the local language up to the 10th standard.
• Knowledge of Cycling and Adequate Livelihood: GDS candidates must possess knowledge of cycling and have adequate alternate means of livelihood.

Age Limit and Relaxations

• Applicants should be between 18 and 40 years as of the closing date (23rd August 2023).
• Age relaxations are applicable: 3 years for OBC and 5 years for SC/ST candidates. For PWD candidates, age relaxation is up to 10 years.

GDS Salary Structure

The salary details for different GDS job profiles are as follows:

• Branch Postmaster (BPM): ₹12,000 – ₹29,380/-
• Assistant Branch Postmaster (ABPM): ₹10,000 – ₹24,470/-
• Dak Sevak: ₹10,000 – ₹24,470/-

• Application Fee: General and OBC category candidates need to pay ₹100/- as the application fee. No fee for females, SC/ST candidates, PwD candidates, and Transwomen candidates.
