GATE 2023: Registration for Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2023 will begin on August 30, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur, the organizing institute of the test, said. The exam will take place in February next year.
As per the exam schedule, the last date to apply for GATE 2023 without a late fee is September 30 and for those who pay a late fee, it is October 7.

GATE is a national-level exam that primarily tests the comprehensive understanding of various undergraduate subjects in Engineering/Technology/ Architecture/Science/Commerce/Arts.
GATE scores are used by institutions supported by Education Ministry and other government agencies for admitting students to master’s and doctoral courses in the said disciplines.
The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kharagpur has released the score card of Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE 2022) on March 21. Candidates who have appeared in the examination can check their result on the official website of GATE at gate.iitkgp.ac.in. The GATE 2022 result was announced on March 17.
Candidates can access their GATE 2022 scorecards through their enrolment ID or email address and password. GATE 2022 was held on the 5th, 6th, 12th, and 13th of February. On February 21, the tentative answer keys were released, and objections were accepted till February 25.
Srinagar: A B.Tech student from the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Srinagar, has topped Graduate Aptitude Test for Engineering (GATE ) 2022.
Mohit Patidar, a B.Tech student from the Metallurgical and Materials Engineering (MME) Department secured all India first rank (AIR-1) in GATE 2022
Ayush Kumar Mall from Information Technology (IT) Department secured AIR-94 whereas Maasil Ahmad Wani from Electronics and Communications Engineering (ECE) secured AIR-255.
Aman Kumar Meena from Chemical Engineering (CE) department obtained AIR-147 and Vishal Ballavadiya from Mechanical Engineering (ME) Department got AIR-191.
Mohammad Sahil Hussain, Ashutosh Kumar Yadav, and Himanshu Singh Singholiya from the MME department had also secured AIR-74, AIR-102, and AIR-174 respectively.
The qualified students comprise 28 students of Civil Engineering, 21 in Electrical Engineering, 16 from the Electronics and Communications Department.
14 in Mechanical Engineering, 10 of Chemical Engineering Department, 8 from Information Technology, 7 from Metallurgical and Materials Engineering Department, and two students from Computer Science and Engineering Departments have qualified the GATE exams.
Director NIT Srinagar, Prof. (Dr). Rakesh Sehgal extended warm greetings to the qualifiers and congratulated them for qualifying prestigious GATE exam.
“The faculty in NIT is working for the students. They will not leave any stone unturned for the overall development of students. It is a proud movement for the NIT Srinagar and we will continue this dedication in the future also,” he said.
Prof. Sehgal urged students to make the best possible use of available resources. He also appreciated the tireless effort of faculty members including Dr. Obbu Chandrasekhar, Head, Department of Training and Placements for organized GATE-2022 coaching classes.
“Despite COVID-19 challenges, NIT Srinagar did not allow students to suffer academics. We taught students online as well as offline classes,” he said.
Registrar NIT Srinagar, Prof. Kaiser Bukhari also extended warm greetings to GATE qualifiers and urged them to work hard to achieve success.
“It is a proud movement for the institute. There is no second option to hard work. I advise them to serve the society dedicatedly and selflessly,” he said.
Earlier Department of Training and Placement, NIT Srinagar had organized GATE-2022 coaching classes for final and pre-final year students (2018 and 2019 admitted batches).
Head, Department of Training and Placements, Dr. Obbu Chandrasekhar, congratulated the whole NIT Srinagar fraternity, especially the qualifying students on their momentous achievement.
He also expressed his gratitude to Director NIT Srinagar, Prof. Sehgal for his constant support and also thanked Prof. M.F. Wani, TEQIP-III Coordinator for providing the necessary funds to engage the GATE coaching classes for students.
Dr. Obbu Chandrasekhar said 180 students from NIT Srinagar had registered for GATE coaching classes and promised that they would continue to guide and nurture students for better results in upcoming years.
On Thursday, The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur released the result for the GATE 2022.
A total of 7,11,542 candidates had appeared for gate 2022 of which 1.26,813 have qualified. Among those who cracked the exam, most are men. As many as 98732 male students cleared GATE 2022 and 28081 females cleared the exam.

Here’s the formula to calculate the GATE score using the answer key
GATE score = total marks secured for correct response – negative marks for wrong response.
Candidates must note that only the Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) will have a negative marking. There will be no negative marking in the Numerical Answer Type (NAT) questions. The MCQ are of both one mark and two marks. For each incorrect answer to a one-marker question, one-third marks will be deducted and for each incorrect answer to a two-marker question two-third marks will be deducted. The NAT questions are of both one mark and two marks.

How will the GATE 2022 Scores be calculated?
As and when the evaluation of the answers is completed, the conducting body will take into consideration the raw marks obtained by the students to determine the GATE 2022 Score.
In the case of the multi-session papers, the raw marks of the different sessions will be converted in order to normalize the marks for the subjects by which the raw marks for the single session papers or the normalized marks for the multi-session papers will be used as the GATE 2022 scores.

Candidates who qualify for the GATE 2022 exams will be eligible to download the scorecard through the link available on the official website. How to Calculate GATE Score: Marking Scheme
As per the marking scheme provided for GATE 2022, each question will carry 1 mark and 2 marks respectively. There were a total of 65 questions for 100 marks of which 15 marks were for the GA section and 85 marks were for the Subject questions. Negative marking will also be applicable for each incorrect answer. For the 1 mark questions, 1/3 marks will be deducted for the wrong answers while for the 2 mark questions 2/3 marks will be deducted.

As per the GATE 2022 paper pattern, the question paper will be of objective type comprising three patterns of questions — multiple choice questions (MCQs), multiple select questions (MSQs), and numerical answer type (NAT) questions. For every wrong answer marked in an MCQ, negative marks will be cut, while for MSQs and NATs, there will be no negative marking for a wrong answer.
Each GATE 2022 paper is for a total of 100 marks, General Aptitude (GA) is common for all papers (15 marks) and rest of the paper covers the respective syllabus (85 marks).
