SHOPIAN: As part of the ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan’ campaign of the government, a number of programmes against drug addiction were held across Shopian today to make participants aware about substance abuse and way to get rid of this menace and its total eradication from society.
Speakers deliberated on the drug abuse and highlighted the need of taking preventive measures to eradicate the menace of drug addiction and other social evils in the district. The participants were asked to play a pro-active role in eradicating drugs from society and not to indulge in drug abuse.
The participants pledged to make the Shopian district free from drugs with the active support of District Administration, Police and Civil society.
The programmes witnessed overwhelming participation of teachers, students, staff and senior citizens who took pledge to fight against drug menace to eradicate it forever.
The Pledge taking ceremonies against drug menace were held in various educational zones of the district in which teachers, staff and students of various educational institutions took part. The participants also raised slogans against drug menace and conveyed upon the concerned to take concrete measures against the ever-increasing drug abuse and also to raise awareness against drug abuse.
The aim of the programme was to spread awareness amongst the people in general and youth in particular to take necessary steps for curbing the drug abuse.
